Ignite Scholarship Winners 2023

Jake Buczek

Jake is a sophomore at Medina Christian Academy. When he is not playing guitar and drums in his worship team or leading a youth group at his church, you can find him volunteering local nursing home or helping out with Habitat for Humanity. Through volunteering, he has learned that everyone struggles sometimes, and it’s always best to lend that helping hand when possible. Becoming a musician at his church has opened him up to many other opportunities to help those in need, such as washing cars to raise money, singing carols at local nursing homes, preparing holiday dinners for those in need, and so much more. Jake will use his scholarship to further his studies at Medina Christian Academy.

Kaitlin Campbell

Kaitlin is a senior at Westlake high school. She has volunteered at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo with Zoo Crew, where she helped educate guests, through games and activities, about environmental problems and what they can do to help. She has also volunteered at the Westlake Porter Public Library as part of the Teen Advisory Board. Kaitlin’s volunteer opportunities have not only allowed her to affect her community positively, but, in turn, her community has had a bigger positive effect on her. Kaitlin plans to use her scholarship to attend college this fall.

Kristina Telban

Kristina is a senior at Magnificat High School. She has volunteered to work with children with disabilities at Youth Challenge since she was 12 years old. When she entered high school, she became the Youth Challenge Volunteer Committee co-president. Through her work with Youth Challenge, she’s set up fundraisers and other events for the organization. Kristina feels that her involvement with Youth Challenge has also impacted her life. Through her volunteer work, she overcame shyness and made lifelong friends while giving back. Kristina will put her scholarship towards her studies at Cleveland State University this fall.
