Calling all members! Consider joining our Board of Directors and help to shape the future of YOUR credit union

At FFCCU we are all about members helping members – it’s at the core of how we approach customer service and our business decisions. The directors who serve on our board are democratically elected by you, our members. The Board of Directors volunteers their time and expertise to help guide our credit union to grow, thrive, and most importantly, best support YOU! An election is held annually for open positions.

We are currently seeking candidates for three (3) open volunteer board of directors’ positions to begin serving in Spring 2025. Each elected candidate will serve a three-year term.

The application for the 2025 election will be available until Wednesday November 1, 2024 at 4 pm

Candidate Requirements for the FFCCU Board of Directors

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a current member in good standing, and have been a member for a minimum of 12 months prior to the application deadline.
  • Applicant’s primary residence must be within FFCCU’s currently established geographic field of membership at the time of application.
  • Display a minimum level of engagement with credit union accounts and activity as determined by the nominating committee.
  • Review agenda and supporting materials for all meetings and come prepared with questions/comments/suggestions to discuss.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the credit union in the community.
  • Minimum availability of five hours per month which includes attending all scheduled regular, committee, and special meetings of the Board of Directors, as well as the annual meeting and the annual planning session. Regular Board meetings are once a month on Thursday mornings.
  • Have the ability and desire to keep up-to-date on developments in the financial services field and attend educational programs when necessary.
  • Commitment to a three-year term
  • Be eligible for bond coverage.
  • Maintains all business affairs and affairs of the credit union’s members in a confidential manner, as well as following the principals of the credit union’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policies.
  • Successfully pass criminal and credit employment background requirements.

Restrictions:

  • Immediate family members of current FFCCU teammates and Directors are not eligible to run for the Board of Directors.
  • Cannot be employed at Firefighters Community Credit Union in the preceding three years.
  • Individuals who are employed by or have outside business interests with any organization that directly competes with FFCCU, or engage in work that is a conflict of interest with board responsibilities are not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.
  • May not have a personal or professional bankruptcy that would reflect a lack of prudence in handling financial matters.

  • Ability read and understand financial statements.
  • Willingness to learn more about the strategic opportunities and challenges facing the credit union.
  • The desire to learn about products and services, policies, and the laws and regulations governing the credit union.
  • Honesty, sensitivity and tolerance of different points of view.
  • Friendly, responsive, and patient demeanor.
  • Personal integrity, strong values, and genuine concern for the credit union’s development and success.
