SAFE DEPOSIT FAQ’S
What happens if I lose my safe deposit keys?
Lost key results in a fee, according to our fee schedule and a box re-drill.
Do you insure my safe deposit box contents?
No. Insuring your contents would be impossible because we do not know what is in your box. Ask your insurance agent about a special policy covering items stored in a safe deposit box.
Can the IRS get into my safe deposit box?
The IRS cannot just walk in and make us open your box. They can, however, serve a “Notice of Levy” requiring us to freeze your box. They will then ask you to be present at the box opening.
Will you automatically deduct my box rental from my account?
Yes. You will sign an authorization upon opening your box and we’ll deduct your annual rent. If a safe deposit box becomes delinquent past 60-days, an additional fee may be applied to the box in accordance with our fee schedule.
Can a box be abandoned and assets turned over to the government?
Only if you do not pay your rental fee for a pre-determined amount of time, as determined by state laws.
How safe are box contents against disasters?
The boxes are highly resistant to fire, water, heat, earthquakes, explosions and other disastrous conditions.
