Credit Insurance, also called Payment Protection Insurance (PPI), is a product offered by Firefighters Community Credit Union that helps our members make their monthly loan payments for a period of time if they should lose their job or become sick or disabled and can’t work. And if a covered borrower passes away, PPI can substantially reduce or in most cases pay off a loan so their loved ones are protected against future financial burdens.
Our PPI plan covers monthly payments on a variety of loans such as second mortgages, car loans and personal loans to name a few. The amount and kinds of coverage are tailored to the needs of each member by our lending staff.
If you’re thinking about a loan, including Payment Protection Insurance is something you should consider carefully. We’ve put together the following criteria to help you decide if this coverage is right for you.
- Peace of mind can be had from knowing that you will have help making your loan payments should you become unable to make them through no fault of your own.
- The insurance can keep financial problems from spreading to your credit standing, since your on-time payment history is kept intact for a period of time. And, PPI can protect your savings and other assets from being depleted should a covered event occur.
- Policies are easy to qualify for. This can be an advantage if you may don’t have access to, or have difficulty qualifying for, other types of insurance aimed at protecting your income.
- Insurance payments are exempt from taxes and separate from any insurance benefits you may receive from your employer.
Payment Protection insurance can definitely ease your transition through a difficult time. Our loan staff will make you are aware of any exclusions that exist and exactly what type of coverage will be provided before you agree to add Payment Protection Insurance to your loan.
